In Sanskrit, ardha means "half," and chandra means "moon," thus, this is the Half Moon Posture. This pose is also one of the postures sequenced in Surya Namaskar (the Sun Salutation).

    • Stand erect with your heels together and toes apart.
    • Keep your back straight and your arms slightly pressed against the sides with palms facing inward.

Steps to Perform Ardha Chandrasana:

  1. Raise Your Arms:
    • Raise your arms over your head and fold your hands, keeping your palms together.
    • Keep your head between your arms.
  2. Lift and Stretch:
    • While inhaling, slowly raise your arms straight up, keeping the palms pressed lightly together.
    • Arch your body backward, keeping your arms alongside your neck and head.
    • Tilt your head backward and hold the position.
    • Keep your knees straight while holding the posture.
  3. Return to Tadasana:
    • Slowly return to Tadasana (Mountain Pose).
    • Repeat the same steps 2-3 times.
