I have a question, which may seem a bit silly but I just had to ask.
I recently read somewhere that the Reiki symbols do not work for you unless they are physically drawn onto you by a Reiki master. Was there ever any truth in this going back in time or is it just somebody that wants to make sure we all pay (sometimes outrageous) prices for reiki attunements?
The reason I said it may be a silly question is because you have kindly performed both my Usui I & II, and I have been using the symbols not just in treatments but in day-to-day life, like over food and water, and around the home. I certainly feel it working!!

I found this a really interesting question and have been giving this some thought and would like to share this with you. I think, as with anything you will always get the odd individual who sees this purely as a way of making a large amount of money but the majority who charge do it as a way of making a living. Therefore they have living costs and overheads to meet.
A few years ago I did a course that was all about how the brain worked and how we, as individuals learn. I was amazed at how different we all are. How some of us need a lot of visual stimulation in order for our brains to absorb information whilst others need auditory or were very kinesthetic so needed hands on learning. These are just a couple of the ways in which we differ. Therefore I was thinking that perhaps that is one of the reasons why long distance attunement may work for some, whilst others felt this wasn't the case. Kinesthetic people would need the physcial/hands on teachings which they would only find in a class room for example.
Also I feel that the human race is very much in its infancy with its development. With any growth to fully absorb and benefit from any type of learning the key is baby steps, particularly as human beings naturaly set themselves limitations: A quote which sums up my thoughts on this is: Your current safe boundaries were once unknown frontiers. We have to be comfortable, trust and have faith in what we are doing before we bravely venture forth into unknown territory.
As I said, I have given this some thought and I am not saying this is how it is, simply my thoughts that I wanted to share as I found this an interesting question that was posed.
