 Ajna Chakra

Location: exact centre of forehead

Color: Dark Blue

Element: Brahma

Bij Mantra: om

{module [198]}

The sixth chakra is Ajna charka, it represents the superior mental consciousness that favors the direct perception over the invisible worlds, and the direct perception of the subtle aspects of manifestation. The two large petals on each side of the chakra in it’s symbolic representation supposedly relate to the connection of the chakra to the two subsidiary energy channels, the ida and pingala, that entwine themselves around the central shushumna channel running all the way up from muladhara to sahasrara.

It is a gate which opens the way for our consciousness to ascend to its final destination, which is the seventh center.

On a physical level, it is apparently related to the pituitary gland and the small brain. The hypophysis has a vital role in organism, in the sense that together with the hypothalamus they act as the command system of all other endocrine glands.

Benefits of meditation on this Chakra:

Ajna chakra gives great mental insight, self-control, clairvoyance, superior intuition, and extrasensorial perception.

One gets rid of blunt past life karmas.

It enhances persons ability to tune in to the highest, or deepest, levels of existence: that is, the tao, dharma, or Boddhisatva.
